Emotional Regulation & Resilience

Foundation

Our brains are fascinating — and sometimes a little bit mysterious.

Brain Detectives is an interactive session designed to help children understand their emotions, recognise what happens when they become overwhelmed, and discover practical ways to manage big feelings.

Through games, discussion, movement and hands-on activities, children explore:

  • What emotions are and why we have them
  • What happens in our brains and bodies when we're stressed or overwhelmed
  • Recognising early signs that we're becoming dysregulated
  • Strategies for managing big feelings
  • The importance of co-regulation and connection
  • Building emotional resilience

This isn't a session where children are expected to sit quietly and listen.

They investigate, move, think, talk and experiment.
