Parent Coaching - 1-1 or Group Sessions
Practical support for parents navigating neurodiversity, big emotions and family life
Parenting is hard enough without trying to navigate meltdowns, emotional overwhelm, conflict, school difficulties, sensory needs, demand avoidance, communication breakdowns and the constant feeling that you should somehow know what to do.
Parent Coaching offers a supportive, practical space to step back, make sense of what is happening and work out what might help.
This isn't about finding the "perfect" parenting technique.
It's about understanding your child, understanding yourself, and finding ways to create more connection and less conflict.
1-to-1 Parent Coaching
Individual coaching gives you dedicated time to talk through the challenges you're experiencing within your family.
Together, we can explore: -
- Understanding behaviour as communication
- Emotional regulation and co-regulation
- The impact of stress on the brain and nervous system
- Why children can struggle to access skills they actually have
- Meltdowns, shutdowns and emotional overwhelm
- Reducing conflict and breaking unhelpful cycles
- Communication that keeps everyone connected
- Supporting children with additional needs and neurodivergence
- Boundaries without unnecessary battles
- Moving from "How do I make them do it?" to "What's getting in the way?"
- Looking after your own emotional resources as a parent
Sessions are collaborative and practical. There is no judgement, no parenting "scorecard" and no expectation that you get everything right.
We start with where you are now and work towards small, realistic changes that fit your family
What might a session look like?
You might arrive feeling completely stuck with a particular situation.
We can slow it down, look at what is happening underneath the behaviour, consider the needs of everyone involved and identify strategies you can try.
You don't need to arrive with a neatly defined problem.
Sometimes the most useful starting point is simply: "I don't know what to do anymore."
That's okay.
Group Sessions & Workshops
Sometimes it helps to discover that you're not the only parent finding this difficult.
My interactive group sessions give parents the opportunity to learn, reflect, share experiences and practise practical communication skills in a supportive environment.
From Conflict to Connection — Practical Communication Skills for Families
This interactive session explores what happens when our children become overwhelmed — and what happens to us when they do.
Together we look at:
- Fight, flight, freeze and fawn
- The developing brain and emotional regulation
- Behaviour as communication
- The "upstairs" and "downstairs" brain
- Stress and the stress bucket
- Co-regulation before self-regulation
- Different approaches to parenting
- De-escalating conflict
- Listening and communicating effectively
- Collaborative problem-solving
- Building connection while maintaining boundaries
This isn't a lecture.
Parents are encouraged to participate, reflect, discuss and practise the ideas together, so that they leave with practical tools they can use at home.
A Different Way of Looking at Parenting.
Children don't usually wake up in the morning and decide to make life difficult.
And parents don't either.
When things go wrong, there is usually something underneath the behaviour — a need, a feeling, an unmet expectation, an overwhelmed nervous system or a skill that isn't currently accessible.
When we understand why something is happening, we have more choices about what to do next.
That's the heart of my approach:
Connection before correction.
Understanding before judgement.
Co-regulation before expecting self-regulation.
Collaboration rather than control.
Who is Parent Coaching for?
Parent Coaching may be particularly helpful for parents who are:
Raising a neurodivergent child
Exploring whether their child's needs may be different from their peers
Struggling with frequent conflict or emotional outbursts
Finding traditional parenting advice doesn't seem to work for their child
Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or unsure what to try next
Wanting to understand their child's behaviour rather than simply stop it
Looking for practical alternatives to punishment and escalating consequences
Wanting to build a stronger, more connected relationship with their child
You don't need to have all the answers before you get started.
That's what we're here to work on together.
Practical, Compassionate, Collaborative
My aim isn't to tell you how to parent your child.
You know your child better than anyone.
My role is to bring knowledge, perspective, practical tools and a fresh pair of eyes — and to work alongside you to find approaches that make sense for your family.
Because there isn't one perfect way to parent.
There is only the process of understanding, adapting, learning and growing together.
Ready to find a different way forward?
